The business plan is your primary vehicle for conveying an organized thought process to investors about your business, team, and pathway to success. Entrepreneurs need well-conceived business plans to raise capital and grow their businesses. Our panel consists of three successful investors (venture capitalists & angels). They will provide advice on how to put a business plan together, tell you what works and doesn’t work in today’s investment climate, network with you, and answer your questions.

Hambleton (Ham) Lord is the Managing Director of LaunchPad Venture Group (www.LaunchPadVentureGroup.com ), an angel group that makes early stage investments in the range of $100K-$500K. LaunchPad has over 60 members from the Boston technology community. Ham has 25 years of experience in the software industry, where he co-founded three software companies. He is currently also an investor and advisor to early stage companies. He graduated magna cum laude with a BS degree in computer science from Brown University.

Elon Boms is the Founder and Managing Director of LaunchCapital (www.Launch-Capital.com ), a VC firm that makes early stage investments generally in the range of $100K-$200K. Launch-Capital currently has 21 active investments in technology start-ups. Elon personally mainly deals with bio-tech, consumer products, and software development deals. In a previous position with Fidelity Investments, he worked primarily on strategy initiatives for financial investments in Emerging Markets. He has an MBA degree from Yale.

Roger Walton is a Partner of Castile Partners (www.castileventures.com  ), a VC firm that invests in early stage companies in the communications, Internet & mass media, mass market technology, mobility, and software/security/services sectors. He currently serves or participates on the boards of North End Technologies, RatePoint, Sandbridge Technologies, and Whaleback Systems. Roger previously served on the Boards of Neah Power (OTC BB:NPWS), Quantiva (acquired by NetScout), and Stargus (acquired by C-COR). He holds an MA degree in Mathematics from Oxford University.

Alan Silver has been the part-time Chief Financial Officer (www.PartimeCFO.com ) for over 50 technology start-ups over the last 14 years. At Andover.net he was the part-time CFO from when the company had fewer than 10 employees until just 5 months before the company went public. He has an MSM degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management, is Treasurer of Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network, and has been a panelist at MIT Enterprise Forum Start-Up Clinics.
