If you’ve ever had questions about how sales and marketing work, or how to apply them to your business or idea, come to this meeting.

At the December meeting for the IEEE Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network, this panel will discuss sales, marketing, social media, publicity and how you can use these tools and techniques to stay in touch with your current customers and find new ones.

The number of marketing options can be overwhelming, and can quickly drain a marketing and sales budget with little or nothing to show for it. Many new marketing channels are free, but only on the surface. Time has become the new currency, especially the time your prospects spend on you and your products. Thinking strategically can increase your odds of success, of course, but new technologies and changing tastes of buyers can create massive growth opportunities if executed properly.


Alyssa Dver, CEO Mint Green Marketing

Business Week recognized her as a female entrepreneur to watch, and American Express OPEN featured Alyssa Dver as the entrepreneur of the month. She is currently the chief executive for Mint Green Marketing which provides affordable expert marketing help to companies ranging from large multinationals such as Nokia, Pitney Bowes, IBM and Choice Hotels to up-and-coming smaller companies all over the world. Dver is the author of the well-endorsed books, “No Time Marketing” and “Software Product Management Essentials”. She is a regular contributor to Software Magazine and has also been published in numerous media including Forbes, Business Week, Entrepreneur, and Chief Marketer. Alyssa frequently does 5 or more keynote and workshop presentations each month at venues such as The World Diversity Leadership Summit at the UN, The Women’s Congress, MA Conference for Women, The American Marketing and American Banking Associations, NY, CT and New England Business Expos, The Business of Software, and The Strategic Management Institute. A respected business and marketing expert, she is a media interviewee favorite and a frequently requested guest lecturer at business schools.

A graduate from the Wharton Business School, Alyssa is also an AIPMM certified product manager and product marketer.


Pascal Rettig, Co-creator Webiva

Pascal Rettig is the Co-creator and Lead developer for Webiva, which grew out of Cykod LLCs internal Rails CMS started in 2006. Startup Junkie, Rails Development, HTML5, the Semantic Web and the Cloud, he is the Chief Technology Officer for Cykod. He received his BS & MEng in CS/EE from MIT in 2002 and has spent the previous 6 years working for or building various unsuccessful companies before joining his wife to start Cykod and achieving success with Webiva.

Webiva is a WBS (Website Building System) as opposed to a CMS (Content Management System). Webiva's focus is on the look and structure of your entire website rather than just “dumping in” content. Based on the idea of “simplicity first, features later” - Webiva began life in 2006 as a micro-cms for a specific project and has grown steadily into tool for web developers to build websites easily. Webiva is built on the Ruby-on-rails framework and builds on the concepts and methodologies that Rails creates. Additional functionality is easily developed through the extensible modules - so the sky's the limit in what the system can do.


Margaret Donnelly, JitterJam

As VP of Marketing and Business Development at JitterJam, Margaret is singularly responsible for all outbound marketing and product strategies, messaging/content and channels and the definition and delivery of JitterJam's reseller program. However, as a member of a start-up with under 10 full-time employees, Margaret has undertaken roles and responsibilities beyond core marketing and has been integral to the functional definition of the JitterJam product.

Founded in 2008, JitterJam® is a web-based Social CRM system that combines social media monitoring, an intelligent contact database and a multi-channel digital marketing platform into a single, integrated system. JitterJam primarily focuses on helping consumer-facing brands and agencies capture relevant conversations on the real-time web and turn them into lasting, trusted customer relationships with new opportunities for revenue growth.

A recent transplant from Silicon Valley, Margaret survived her first New England winter and is active in the local arts community.
