Steven K. Ladd, President, Primacea, Inc., http://www.primacea.com

Steve Ladd is a serial entrepreneur with more than 25 years experience reinventing business and technology systems to simplify operations, save labor and improve user experiences. He is currently the president of Primacea, Inc., a company that he cofounded. Primacea focuses on delivering transparency in innovation and is dedicated to serving the best interests of innovative physicians and hospitals who advance medicine in collaboration with industry.

Previously, Ladd was founder and CEO of Copanion, a venture-backed business that automated professional tax preparation with cloud-based software. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants endorsed the software as the accounting profession’s new standard for professional tax preparation and sold it to member firms (until Copanion was acquired by the industry vendor with the largest user base). Ladd’s testimony to the Internal Revenue Service on privacy issues related to offshore outsourcing resulted in the IRS issuing enhanced transparency regulations. He was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for this work.

Ladd also founded InterChip Systems, an electronics business that automated the miniaturization of electronics for the medical, consumer, computer and aerospace industries. He recruited DuPont and jointly formed a 55-firm industry alliance to standardize interfaces between component, materials and manufacturing firms. Ladd gave more than 60 invited and sponsored presentations and classes at industry, society, government and educational events. He led InterChip through its acquisition by Honeywell and became Vice President and General Manager of an electronics business unit. Earlier, Ladd invented the world's first missless cache memory system and managed sales, marketing, manufacturing and engineering teams for technology businesses in Silicon Valley.

Ladd earned BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, where he developed and commercialized speech recognition technology with General Electric as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.

Ladd has three issued and 19 pending patents.

Daniel Greenberg runs CMO-ToGo, a marketing consultancy that helps B2B technology companies accelerate their sales. CMO-ToGo optimizes a company’s marketing and then automates it, increasing a company’s velocity of customer acquisition.

During our meeting,  Dan will discuss the evolution of your great product idea. Why not drop everything and build it? Traditional lean principals advocate quickly building your MVP, minimum viable product, and testing it.  This discussion will show a better approach that applies lean principals to marketing in a way that can dramatically change the trajectory of a start-up from failure to success.  Before writing a single line of code, a start-up needs to validate its core value proposition with its target market. Dan will share some practical ways to apply these principals and improve the odds of start-up success.

With more than 20 years of high-tech marketing experience, Daniel has been Chief Marketing Officer/VP Marketing at 3 public and 5 private companies.  He is a results-driven marketing expert with an extensive track record for delivering extraordinary revenue growth for companies. He has served as CEO for Kinfo, CMO for Tumbleweed (NASDAQ: TMWD) and TrialPay and VP Product Management & Marketing for Macrovision (NASDAQ: MVSN) and ACNielsen (NYSE: ART) and ActiveDecisions.  At CMO-ToGo Daniel has been acting CMO at Loggly, Duo Security, 2Checkout, Workshare, and BitzerMobile. His clients include Apple, Linkedin, Symantec, Yahoo, and a number of VC-backed startups.

Daniel hails from Silicon Valley and has worked in the Internet space for the past 21 years. He has deep expertise in every element of the marketing mix including: vision creation, product positioning, product ideation, product management, roadmapping, lean marketing, marketing automation, and demand generation. Over his career he has authored an extensive library of marketing frameworks and templates that represent the best practices in most marketing processes. 

Daniel is highly entrepreneurial, having run two venture-backed startups and has raised $19M in venture capital. In 1997, he co-founded ActiveDecisions, a Software-as-a-Service company that was acquired by KNOVA Software (NASDAQ: KNVS). He has executive and board level experience in both start-up & public companies and received his MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Dr. Karthik Ganesan, Program Director, Cognizant Technology Solutions, http://www.cognizant.com/

Dr. Karthik Ganesan is the American Program Director for Business Consulting and Enterprise IT at Cognizant Technology Solutions, a NASDAQ listed, Fortune 500 US corporation. He manages a multimillion dollar portfolio of services for corporate customers, leading globally distributed teams to provide domain knowledge and technical   services.

Dr. Ganesan’s experience spans applying optimization and domain knowledge skills to manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and retail operations in large corporations. As a domain leader, he manages teams spread across the USA, Latin America, Europe and India for delivering business and IT projects. He focuses on solving logistics operations and supply chain management and manufacturing problems faced by his customers. He is responsible for leading the business center in implementing full-life cycle solutions to his customers within competitive, time constrained contractual terms. His responsibility extends to internal and external team management, customer satisfaction and securing repeat business for his group. Prior to taking this industry position, he spent over a decade in graduate level teaching and research in both engineering and business schools.

Karthik was granted a Young Scientist Award by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. He was elected a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (FIE), India, is a member of American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is a postdoctoral fellow from The Ohio State University, Columbus. He holds Graduate and Doctoral degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management  from the Indian Institute of Science and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.

E-Minute Presentations will be given at the start of the meeting. These very short presentations enable young startup entrepreneurs to gain experience in presenting their summary business plans to expert panels and audiences.
